"How the World Works" with Barack Obama

“I can’t conduct diplomacy on an open source. That’s not how…the world works. If you’re in the military, and — I have to abide by certain classified information. If I was to release stuff that I’m not authorized to release, I’m breaking the law…We’re a nation of laws. We don’t individually make our own decisions about how the laws operate… He broke the law.”

Matt Taibbi "Justice Department Has No AppetiteTo Take ANY Cases Against .."

NIST?

Wall Street Executives.

It's funny how the mind works.

On the one hand, Taibbi reports proof of illegal malfeasance and corruption from a group that is beyond Justice Department procedure, something that is beyond dispute.

One the other hand, 9/11 Activists are kooks for asking questions about associations and strategic placement of actors in a global ponzi.

Useful idiot indeed.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed To Face Military Tribunal

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed To Face Military Tribunal

PETE YOST 04/ 4/11 12:48 PM ET

WASHINGTON — Professed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four alleged co-conspirators are being referred to the system of military commissions for trial, a federal law enforcement official said Monday.

The decision by the Obama administration is an about-face from earlier plans to have the five go on trial in civilian federal court in New York, which created intense political opposition among Republicans and even some Democrats, particularly in New York.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity about the switch, which Attorney General Eric Holder was expected to announce at an afternoon news conference.

Republican critics have roundly assailed the administration, first for the decision in late 2009 to try the men in New York City, then for a long delay in making a decision on whether to have them face military commission justice instead.

The UN, Israel-Palestine and 9/11 Scholarship: A Discussion with Prof. Richard Falk

Dr. Richard Falk is Professor Emeritus of International Law at Princeton University. He is the author, co-author or editor of about three dozen scholarly books. In 2008 Professor Falk was appointed to a six-year term as Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian Territories occupied since 1967. Professor Falk has been attacked recently by UN Watch, by UN General-Secretary, Ban Ki-moon, and by the US Ambassador to the UN, Susan Rice. In this discussion, Professor Falk gives his assessment of the political context of the criticisms he is facing for identifying Israeli crimes in the treatment of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, and for referring positively to the scholarly contributions of Professor David Ray Griffin and other academics who have identified serious shortcomings in government and mainstream media interpretations concerning the contested events of 9/1

Colin Powell's Former Chief Of Staff Lawrence Wilkerson Claims Powell Was 'Manipulated' Into Making Case For Iraq War

Lawrence Wilkerson, former chief of staff to Colin Powell, appeared on "MSNBC Live" tonight and discussed Powell's role as Secretary of State during the lead-up to the Iraq War. Wilkerson said he believes that Former Vice President Dick Cheney's office "manipulated" Powell into justifying the case for war and that "the Secretary of State was not told the complete truth." He went on to state his belief that the Bush Administration was "using" Powell due to his respected reputation.

A key moment in the interview comes when host Cenk Uygur asks Wilkerson about Powell's speech to the United Nations in which Powell made the case for war:

Uygur: Do you think the Vice President's office manipulated you and Secretary Powell into giving a speech?

Wilkerson: Absolutely. Absolutely.

Ray McGovern Brutalized & Left Bleeding

As Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave her speech at George Washington University yesterday, condemning governments that arrest protestors and do not allow free expression, 71-year-old Ray McGovern was grabbed from the audience in plain view of her by police and an unidentified official in plain clothes, brutalized and left bleeding in jail. She never paused speaking. When Secretary Clinton began her speech, Mr. McGovern remained standing silently in the audience and turned his back. Mr. McGovern, a veteran Army officer who also worked as a C.I.A. analyst for 27 years, was wearing a Veterans for Peace t-shirt.

Blind-sided by security officers who pounced upon him, Mr. McGovern remarked, as he was hauled out the door, “So this is America?” As you see, Mr. McGovern is covered with bruises, lacerations and contusions inflicted in the assault.

WTC Hard Drives Show $100 Million In Criminal Credit Transfers Before Towers Fell

Youtube via Prison Planet

Feb 16, 2011
There was a sharp rise in credit card transactions moving through some computer systems at the WTC shortly before the planes hit the twin towers. This could be a criminal enterprise-in which case, did they get advance warning? Or was it only a coincidence that more than $100 million was rushed through the computers as the disaster unfolded?

Rumsfeld feels vindicated by Obama's Gitmo policy

USA TODAY
Rumsfeld feels vindicated by Obama's Gitmo policy

"There are things you regret," he says during an interview Tuesday, the day his memoir Known and Unknown was published, but quickly adds that he also takes "great pride in the structures that the Bush administration put in place that this Obama administration criticized and ran against and now have retained: military commissions and indefinite detention and (the prison at) Guantanamo Bay, Cuba."
Is that a sense of vindication he's feeling?
"I suppose that's right," he says, smiling.

Rumsfeld Memoir 'Known And Unknown' Reveals Doubts But Remains Self-Righteous

via Huffington Post
Marcus Baram

"Donald Rumsfeld has a few regrets -- but not many.

In his upcoming memoir "Known And Unknown," the Bush-era Pentagon chief lists some of them: claiming that the U.S. knew the location of Iraqi WMDs, not authorizing more troops after the invasion of Iraq, and not quitting after the Abu Ghraib detainee abuse scandal.

But for the most part, Rumsfeld remains defiantly self-righteous about his tenure as Bush's Defense Secretary -- defending his often-criticized decisions and blaming almost everyone else for mistakes that were made -- in the 800-page book, a copy of which was obtained by The Huffington Post. Notably missing from the book is any mention of Pat Tillman, the football star turned soldier whose death by friendly fire was covered up by the Pentagon.

Rudy Guiliani : In Business with Saudi Arabia

from Time.com
by MASSIMO CALABRESI

...My former colleague Michael Weisskopf and I collaborated on a number of projects over the years. One was our piece on Rudy's business interests, which focused on a successful relationship between Giuliani and a Florida company called Seisint that sold a very expensive piece of datamining software to state, local and federal officials, with Giuliani's help. There were questions about the legality of Giuliani's commissions, and the product turned out to be controversial: it raised civil liberties concerns because it gathered huge amounts of personal data…
